ClearTrial, a provider of clinical trial software, appointed Michael Bruns as the company’s new chief operating officer. Bruns will oversee ClearTrial’s global operations and help further develop and implement the company’s growth strategy. Prior to joining ClearTrial, Bruns was director of the Technology Investment Banking Group at Robert W. Baird, a global investment banking firm.
In what CEO M. Denis Connaghan called a “challenging year,” eClinical company etrials reported a decrease in year-end revenue and an operating loss for the year.
A month after naming a new permanent CEO, beleaguered eClinical company etrials is reorganizing its management structure—a move that will result in the departure of once-interim CEO Chuck Piccirillo as well as two other senior executives.
Just a day after releasing disappointing third quarter results, Morrisville, N.C.-based eClinical company etrials named a new president and CEO, M. Denis Connaghan, replacing interim president and CEO Chuck Piccirillo. Piccirillo, who will resume his position as vice president of technology, has served as interim CEO since the resignation of Eugene “Chip” Jennings in July. Connaghan was formerly managing director within Marsh USA’s Global Operations.
Morrisville, N.C.-based eClinical company etrials reported another quarter of loss, with net losses for the third quarter at $6.1 million, compared with $1.3 million for the same period last year and $2.2 million in net losses for the second quarter of 2008.
Former etrials chief operating officer Peter S. Benton is the newly named president of Phoenix Data Systems (PDS), the eClinical division of Newtown, Pa.-based CRO Bio-Imaging Technologies. Benton, whose position at etrials was eliminated in April, will succeed Dr. William Claypool, who is leaving PDS to start a pharmaceutical development consulting company. Bio-Imaging acquired PDS earlier this year.
