Biogen has appointed Matt Griffiths as senior vice president and chief information officer. He will report to the company’s executive vice president of technology and business solutions, Adriana Karaboutis. Griffiths was promoted to the chief information officer role from his position as vice president of pharmaceutical operations and corporate information technology, having joined Biogen from Dell earlier this year.
Surface Oncology, a Cambridge, Mass.-based provider of next-generation cancer immunotherapies, has appointed Detlev Biniszkiewicz, Ph.D., president and CEO, effective immediately. Biniszkiewicz brings over 15 years of industry leadership and experience building a transformative pipeline of novel cancer therapies, most recently as the head of the oncology strategy at AstraZeneca.

National Institutes of Health director Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., has announced the selection of Eliseo J. Pérez-Stable, M.D., as director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). Dr. Pérez-Stable is expected to join NIH in September.
